2027 Medicare Plan Review Checklist
Choosing a Medicare plan starts with your everyday needs: the doctors you see, the prescriptions you take, and the costs you could face if your health changes. Use this checklist to prepare for a personal review with Kyle Johnson, serving Louisiana and Mississippi. Compare Medicare Advantage plans by ZIP code | Request your personal Medicare review 1. Start with your current coverage Gather your current plan name, plan ID and Annual Notice of Change. Note anything changing for 2027. Keep your current coverage in place while you review your options and confirm the timing of any change. 2. Make a doctor and hospital list Write down each doctor's name and office location, plus the hospitals you prefer. Ask about the exact plan and coverage year; recognizing the insurance company's name is not enough to confirm a network match. 3. Gather your prescriptions List medication names, strengths, how often you take them and your preferred pharmacy. A plan comparison should include your prescriptions and pharmacy costs. The online tool does not replace a personal drug-cost review. 4. Look beyond the monthly premium Compare the plan premium, deductibles, primary-care and specialist visits, hospital costs, and the medical out-of-pocket limit. Ask about network rules and prior authorization. A low premium alone does not tell you what your care will cost. 5. Check extra benefits carefully If dental, vision, hearing, OTC or fitness benefits matter to you, ask for the plan's exact allowance, limits, participating providers and eligibility conditions. Verify the current plan documents rather than assuming an advertised benefit applies to everyone. 6. Confirm your ZIP and parish or county Start the comparison with your home ZIP code and confirm your county or parish when asked. Options depend on where you live. Kyle helps people across Louisiana and Mississippi, including Slidell, the Northshore, greater New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. 7. Know the enrollment window Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7. Changes made during that window generally take effect January 1 of the following year. For 2027 coverage, that means reviewing your options during October 15–December 7, 2026. Medicare Supplement policies have different enrollment protections; this window does not guarantee acceptance into a Supplement. Read Medicare's official enrollment guidance. Ready for a personal review? You can browse the comparison tool without sharing your name or email. When you want help, start with your name, email and ZIP.
